Dragon – Typeface

Description
An original design born in the territory of fantasy art, amidst dragons and magic. Playful, yet considering details, counterforms, and modern proportions, to ensure usability and legibility in different situations, digital and print. A typeface with an old feel, yet not outdated... timeless, as a dragon. To be applied in headlines and short texts where texture and magical style are needed. Although this is not a revival, Arrighi’s “Operina” helped as the initial inspiration, bringing the challenge of turning that calligraphic reference into a contemporary typeface, working as a font. Then, the whole history of typography helped with additional references. The result is the merge of styles: roman typefaces proportions, with details of blackletter and uncial. Seeking harmony in the whole system (words and paragraphs) rather than focusing on each letter as an individual design, it has particular tension points and broken stems, for the sake of the proposed texture on the page. Design by Ringo R. Seeber with the mentorship of Hannes Famira and Just van Rossum.
